Munsee-Eagle/Red Back/ Hutchinson MULTi Use Trail

Hey! Did you know that there is a new trail race coming to the area? Yup, right here in our backyard, it’s called the Sterling Furnace Half Marathon and it takes place Saturday, April 25th, 2020. Part of the course uses the new multi use Munsee-Eagle/Red Back/ Hutchinson loop in Sterling Forest State Park, New York.

We made our way to the park to run this awesome mix of winding, slightly technical, yet very runnable singletrack. These trails are fun for mountain biking, hiking, trail running and on certain sections horseback riding. Lucky for us, this entertaining loop is part of the new Sterling Furnace Half Marathon. https://www.sterlingfurnacehalfmarathon.com

This race is a fundraiser for the park and the New York New Jersey Trail Conference. Please consider running, donating or getting dirty to help maintain the trails we love so much.

Here are some photos from our day. You can check out my Strava data as well to dig a little deeper into the terrain. Next week we will take you around the rest of the course which has you running around beautiful Sterling Lake.

For a trail map of the area, download or pick up map 100 from NY/NJ Trail Conference.
