Running in the Kahtoola NANOspikes on Icy Trails in Colorado
NANOspikes are recommended for icy roads and sidewalks but perform great on icy dirt roads and trails as well. They have 10 very durable tungsten carbide spikes per foot embedded into durable traction plates. The minimal design offers a nice feel underfoot, even when running on road or dirt.
Kahtoola this year released their EXOspikes which offers even more traction for the hiker and trail runner that enjoys snowy icy mountain trails and roads. Their next level of traction for mountainous terrain and backcountry adventures would be the MICROspikes, which are awesome!
Having all three offerings would be great but if you just wanted one, it would be the EXOspikes. This would give you the most traction on a variety of terrain. However, we like to recommend both the NANOspikes and MICROspikes for the trail runner and hiker. These pretty much cover all your traction needs for the road and adventures ahead.
