This is a 10 week Advanced training plan, designed for competitive runners who have experience at the 50 mile distance.  While the specific target race is Stone Cat, this plan can be adapted to a variety of runnable 50 miles with minimal changes. For example, I ran my 50 mile road PR following a very similar training plan that included more road miles. The target mileage is 75 - 100 per week. The overall goal is to increase general fitness with an emphasis on trail speed and endurance. The intervals will increase trail speed & efficiency and the long runs will increase trail endurance, making your 50 mile pace goal feel easier. This plan can be adapted by runners who run more than once a day, but the workouts should always be completed in single sessions. Most of the mileage should be on trails, and preferably on terrain similar to the goal race. For Stone Cat, that would be runnable singletrack and carriage roads
