Video: The 2008 Grindstone 100 Mile Endurance Run
Like many of us that run far I have spent a lot of time away from my family, preparing to be away from my family even longer. I have been building myself up to see just how “fast” I can run 100 miles.
The plan from the start was to run most/all of it with Philip Vondra, and we had a very loose plan to shoot for 24 hours, or at least to beat sunset on Saturday. Neither of those goals were met but here's the gist of what happened.

In December when I began to put my ultra-running race calendar together, The Grindstone 100 was on my list but so was The Badwater 135 and at the time I had know Idea if I would get in nor how I would feel if I finished such an epic event. Ever since I crossed the finish line of the Badwater 135, I wanted more.
Another adventurous weekend coming up! Elizabeth and I are heading down to Virginia where she will be racing in the Grindstone 100 Mile Endurance run through the George Washington National Forest.
The 2008 Grindstone 100 Mile Endurance Trail Run took place near Swoope Virginia and has 23,000 feet of elevation gain along the way. Its considered one of the toughest East Coast Ultras... Here is one of my early videos.
I survived the 1st annual Grindstone 100 mile endurance run held over the weekend of Oct 3rd in Swoope, Virginia. The race course started at Camp Shenandoah boy scout camp and proceeded 50 miles through the George Washington National Forest.
